The awesome Kaylie Austen tagged me to answer 11 random questions, so here we go!
What’s your most embarrassing moment?
I have so many, it’s really hard to choose. I’m really good at misinterpreting things, especially signs and song lyrics. I’m like the Queen of the Unintentional Innuendo. I was online talking to a friend years ago and was given a link to some generic book club site and we were talking about different titles. I started freaking out because I saw what I read to be ‘The Lovecraft Guide to Sexuality.’ This was before Cthulhu started becoming an everyday word, so I was floored and disturbed that someone would even write something like that. I mean who would it be geared to, the followers of Dagon? How the hell had it gotten published? So I was blathering on about that and trying to decide whether to buy it for a joke when it was calmly pointed out to me that the real title was ‘The Lover’s Guide to Sexuality.’ I have yet to live that one down.
If you had to play a sport as a career, which one would it be? Oh man…This world is so out of my realm of experience, but if I had to I’d probably go for competitive martial arts (though I would have to improve a lot from where I’m at now.)
Who is your favorite music artist, and why? I have two. I am a mad David Bowie fan. I love the fact that he incorporates so many of his interests into his work and he’s so varied. When I was having a really hard time in high school because even back then I had a very different creative vibe than most of my peers – my interests were all over the place. I was introduced to his music, and it was like the world made sense again. I love that he has no regrets about his life path and he’s always been very progressive about trying different styles. Every person that thinks they don’t like him can usually find at least one album that speaks to them.
In the past couple of years I’ve also become incredibly fond of G Tom Mac aka Gerard McMahon. He’s known for the song Cry Little Sister that was featured in The Lost Boys, but he’s also done a lot of work for TV. This guy is incredible. I don’t know if he has just had crazy life experiences or if he’s that good at finding the story in very basic situations, but his lyrics are mind-blowing. He also has this voice that is absolutely effortless and his instrumentations are deliciously textured. I feel like his music speaks not just to a person’s ears, but their minds, hearts, libido, souls…he writes the kind of stuff that gets under your skin and stays there. And he has a new album coming out in March, which I’m ecstatic about.
What’s your favorite movie I have like ten, LOL. I love fantasy/horror movies like Labyrinth and The Lost Boys, where the fantasy elements are taken seriously and the worlds are built up really well. But my all-time favorite…if I have to choose…would be It’s a Wonderful Life. I love the message that every person counts, even you if never see how you touch other people. The further we progress the more we fall out of touch with each other – we may keep up via social networks but how much do we really know about the person behind the screen name? This movie gives me hope that people matter.
Would you rather live in a fantasy/paranormal world or a sci-fi one? Fantasy/paranormal! Unless I can live in the Star Wars universe (from the original movies).
Can you list all the seven dwarfs? Happy, Dopey, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful, Grumpy, Sleepy (HA!)
If you were tossed into a fairytale, would you be a helpless princess (prince), a kick-butt heroine (hero), or the bad guy?
How long am I in this fairytale? do I have time to be a kick butt heroine and then turn evil so I can be both? Or can I start out evil and then find my salvation through a stellar adventure and my heart’s desire? I suppose if we’re sticking with the question I’d be a kick-butt princess. I love the old stories where the female characters end up going into the woods to escape a life situation or to improve it, totally turn everything around and face down the antagonist, and still get a pretty good ending. (writer, me? Naaaaaaaaah)
Aside from writing, what is your dream job, and are you living it?
I’m getting closer. I love making costumes and designing, bridging that gap between idea and reality. I’d like to be able to do a little more production design work, but we’ll see. I’m content to keep my nose to the grindstone and see what happens. I’ve learned the minute I try to predict my future is the minute I get thrown a massive curveball.
What is the best cheese you’ve ever tasted? I’m a sucker for a good mozerella or a really good, basic grilled american cheese sandwich.
Wolverine or Cyclops? (Either to be, men, or to have, ladies.) Why is Gambit not an option? o.O
Coffee or tea? Tea (herbal) all the way, unless I need to function early in the morning. You can always tell I have a lot to do if I’m chugging mocha lattes
So now it’s my turn! Here are my 11 random questions:

yeah, it’s a baby list but this has been circulating around. And if I didn’t tag you and you want to answer these q’s on your blog, go for it!
For fun! It’s great to get to know more about you! You’ve got some serious right-brained skills with your costume designing… man… that’s beyond me! I’ll try and do the questions this weekend! Thanks for the tag! 😀
Hey! I’m here via the Campaign. David Bowie! Yay! Also, I think you need to write a book or at least a short story called “The Lovecraft Guide to Sexuality.” Seriously.
Yay! It’s great to meet you! LOL, you know I never thought about using that as an idea…and now maybe I’ll have to, mwahahaha 🙂 Although I don’t know if I can force my mind to go there..
Hi. You sound like a master of all things. Happy Valentine’s Day! Your book sounds like a good read.
Fun! And, wow, someone thinks I’m Awesome 🙂 I also have too many embarrassing moments to pinpoint the worst, and I took martial arts in high school. I like Stars Wars, too…and gasp! I originally wrote Gambit, but changed him to Cyclops. My book, Ravens, was inspired by Gambit…grrr…I’ll have to post my drawing of him…hotness.
You are awesome!
Yeah, I had a few other moments that border on apocalyptic humiliation, but those are kept locked in a vault. Gasp, it’s like our commenting was meant to be! And how dare you replace Gambit with Cyclops 😉 Unfortunately I mostly remember XMen for the cartoon series, though I’ve slowly gotten into the movies – unfortunately the series as a whole just confuses me as opposed to like Batman. And yes, you will have to post your drawing of him because gorgeousness like that shouldn’t be hidden from the world 😉
Aww! Thanks for tagging me. I’ll answer your questions for me shortly.
